15 strong
I'm glad I was wrong. Miami played extreamly well and they deserved the championship. Although it didn't seem so after the first couple of games. Their coach Pat Riley obviously did an excelent job. He is known as one of the greatest motivational speakers and he showed it this time around. "15 strong" is one of his ideas. It represents 15 strong teammates that strive to a single common goal. It represents their families and their support they gave to those 15 strong. Great move Pat! I'm...

Heat(less)
If you've been following this years NBA finals, you're thinking what I'm thinking right now: "Can Miami turn it around?" My anwser? They can't. Miami is afraid of those double teams. They're afraid of the Mavs, and rightly so. They are the better team so far. If Miami is going to win a game, they're going to have to make a lot of changes. Here's a few ideas from the top of my head. So what if Shaq is getting double teamed. Double team means somebody is open. The Mavs don't seem to have...

Heart of a warrior
6 feet of bumps and bruises, and whatever is left is all heart. I can't belive 10 years have already gone by sice Allen Iverson was picked as the first pick in the draft, and he's been growing ever since. Put your average NBA fan back-to-back with Allen Iverson, and they'll surely identify with him. At 6-0, Iverson doesn't tower over anyone like your typical superstar would. At 165, he might even give up a few pounds. Yet A.I. has managed to carve out an implausible career in the league that...

Eurobasket 2005
I've been watching our Slovenian national basketball team write history. We've participated 6 times in the Euro Championships but never made it to the quarterfinals. With Greece, France and Bosnia in our group and our NBA guard Beno Udrih injuring his knee, things didn't look promising at all. The first pesimist were already fortelling a new fiasco. The Slovenians have always had potential, but it has never materialized into a medal at an international competition. It will be the same...

What's wrong with Sixers?
I just read that the Philadelphia 76ers have traded Marc Jackson to the New Jersey Nets. For what? A conditional second round pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. Now read the title of this entrie again. (???!) What's wrong with the Sixers GM? They traded the only good and stable player to contribute coming from the bench (12 points and 5 rebounds in 24.4 minutes of play). If that 'aint efficient, than I don't know what is. I really don't undestand how this 'trade' makes this team better. Who will...

What's going on
With the Collective Bargaining Agreement signed early this week the NBA teams were finally allowed to sign and trade players. Thank god the agreement was reached, you do remember what happened to NHL this past year, don't you. And we all don't want that to happen again. Period.

Bread and Circus Games
Panem et circenses. Games and circus games. A brilliant way of keeping the masses in wonderland. No, not for Alice, for peasants like you and me. They were gladiators of the ancient Rome. Things have not changed. There can be only one. It is finally time for the final push. Destination finals. NBA playoffs 2005 are on their way. And nothing can stop them :)
